Dumped and loving it!

I was lucky enough today to get out and enjoy 5 beautiful hours of riding. Down by the lake the wind became a force to contend with, but I sure as heck didn't let it get in the way. When I got back home, I felt relaxed and couldn't stop smiling.
I haven't been able to log a great deal of mileage recently and tried to make it up today. By all accounts I should be tired and ready for bed, but instead I feel composed and fresh. It came to me while reading  Melanie's blog, why I feel so great. She wrote that her partner Jay doesn't like running long distance because it would leave him alone with his thoughts and that would drive him crazy. Being left alone with my thoughts while on the bike is one of the great pleasures I get. I know that within an hour, I can do a complete thought drain and leave it on the road behind me.
I logged 127kms today and dropped the office, personal and assorted challenges around the 30km mark.

LOL... ironically it's one of the reasons I run a lot too, along with many others that commented! Nice long ride today -- great day for it! :D

I come up with my best ideas walking the dog - I tend to ride a lot with other people but those walks on my own are for creative genius to happen.....

Mel- The time of a bike not only refreshes me physically but also mentally. It was a perfect day for riding.
Buttsy- I spend too much time making sure the dog doesn't eat anything to let my mind be creative.

Always great to "download" on those long rides... and you logged a great one. I think that's why we really love it... the escape is so much a part of the experience.

as promised, i donated to your ride in a few weeks... i still haven't gotten the thumbs up to hit the bike, so probably won't be wise to try a 25/50 or 75k ride with healing stress fractures. ugh. maybe next year. :)

Donald-You hit the nail on the head! Escape, Escape, Escape!
Mel-Thank you very much for your donation to the ride. I'm sure that you'll be pounding the pavement and pushing the pedals in no time. I look forward to hitting the highway with you next year.
